Dear Residents of Sandown,
If you find this information helpful, please “rate” this message at the bottom (very quick and simple).
We have been working closely with partner agencies to address concerns regarding the derelict Cygnet Hotel on Carter Street.
I am pleased to inform you that the building has now been secured with boarding in place. Proactive patrols are continuing in the area, both day and night, to deter any attempts to remove the boarding or gain unauthorised access.
We understand the impact this site has had on residents and want to reassure you that this matter remains a priority for all agencies involved. Your local Policing Team will continue to monitor the situation closely and respond to any reports, ensuring that the area remains as safe and secure as possible.
The Isle of Wight Council Planning Department, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, the Community Safety Partnership, Ryde Demolition, the site owner and your local Policing Team have all worked collaboratively and diligently to secure the premises. While this is a temporary measure, work is ongoing to develop a longer-term solution for the site that will benefit the residents of Sandown.
Thank you for your patience and continued support. Please continue to report any suspicious activity at the site via 101 or online. In an emergency, please call 999.
Kind regards,
PCSO May
